Reclaiming Our Heritage,
Building Our Future

Barolong Boo Modiboa (Ba Matlwang) CPA: Custodians of ancestral lands since 1800, creating sustainable prosperity for generations to come

Established in 2007, we are the custodians of ancestral lands restored to our community after years of displacement during apartheid. Our mission is to manage these lands for the sustainable benefit of all our verified members, honoring our heritage while building a prosperous future.

Our Story

Matlwang Village was established in 1800 on approximately 17,556 hectares of land west of Potchefstroom in North West Province, South Africa. Located along the N12 highway between Potchefstroom and Stilfontein, our community thrived until the apartheid era, when most residents were forcefully removed and resettled elsewhere.

Justice prevailed in 1996 when our land was restored through South Africa’s land restitution process. In 2007, we formalized our community ownership by registering the Barolong Boo Modiboa (Ba Matlwang) Communal Property Association (Registration No: CPA/07/0982/A) under the Communal Property Act of 1996.

Our Journey

Our path hasn’t been without challenges:
